You have a higher chance of multiples no matter what fertility treatment route you go. They are trying to increase odds, so many times transfer multiple embryos.

That is usually from them transferring more than one embryo into the woman. They used to do that a lot more in hopes that one of the embryos would implant and more than one would "take" and you have multiples.
Now...many places will only transfer one at a time, especially if the woman is older. My doctor will only transfer one at a time to prevent multiples. It's safer that way.

Yea, that's what they had to do for the safety of her and the babies. She said it was a brutal thing to go through.

I actually kind of blame the doctor in that case. Said they were all really bad quality so he put them all in as a hail mary one would work. But suggested it on the table so the couple didn't have proper time to consider the risks. And at that point as the couple you are just so done and ready for something to work of course they agreed.
