It is their estimate of the percentage that your kidneys function at. It comes with the blood tests. Mine has fluctuated from 31-36% for the last 6 years. It may be why they sent you for an ultrasound. Most folks are walking around between 60-90%. You can function normally and drink plenty of fluids at 31%.

I just looked and my egfr was 68

They are functioning fine. High blood pressure wrecks them.
