Happens around 8th/9th grade. Boys hit puberty and have a speed and strength gap. Prior to this age can be very competitive.

Yeah, got a coworker who's kids are competitive swimmers and skiiers. Girls are pretty amazing competitors until they hit puberty.
Guys generally blow past them around middle school.

Maybe. But, I remember lots of girls that passed on blowing me in middle school. No biggie. I only had 8 or 9 pubes ‘til my freshman year. Couple were longer than my tinkle, anyway.
