A large framed print of classic art would work well. This is "Tree of Life" by Gustav Klimt, who did somewhat symbolic works. There a great pieces available. My suggestions would include Monet, Matisse, and any number of others. Use Google images and show them to the folks and let them choose something that fits their tastes.
