One of the reasons I haven't invested in one. I live in a 200 home neighborhood, and with the 0% financing, we have about 50 of them. 3 days into Ida, all but one started to have issues, and it was all due to lack of NG pressure.

Going propane is better, no pressure issues. Having a 500 gal tank and refilling it every summer when prices are usually at their lowest saves some money.

In your more upscale neighborhoods where people can afford them I really wonder how much of a concern this is. I’ve always worried in a bad storm you’re risking trees being uprooted and breaking the lines. I’m not trying to be overly concerned.
OP I guess you had a power outtage in your entire neighborhood?

Upper Middle Class neighborhood. 200-325 ish to give an idea. And yes, entire neighborhood out for 14 days. My neighbors started to have issues with over heating on day 4. Day 7 issues with surging. Day 10 issues with CO levels in the house. Neighbor ended up taking all the covers off the genset, using a large fan to "cool" it, and only ran it for a few hours at a time to keep the temps down in his house. They also ended up using duct tape to seal all of the eaves on his house to keep the CO levels down.

It’s because those gas generac systems they sell to homeowners aren’t made to run more than a few hours at a time.
They’re not commercial ststems.
