It's the backup plan in case she decides she's tired of school when she graduates or she doesn't get in med school Good degree that she likes. Always have to have a backup.
We warned her about engineering but it's what she likes and has been around all her life.

I have no doubt she will get money from Auburn too but LSU might be more. I'm a planner. I have to have all options on the table and review before making a decision. We have the other schools she also applied to look at. She applied to LSU a couple of weeks ago, the others two days ago. In the end, I hope it's Auburn but it might not. And I will

Definitely not a bad idea to do engineering. I'm not super familiar with pre-med reqs and the ChemE curriculum, but it seems to me Bio Engineering would just be the wiser decision.
The only medical school prerequisites that aren't in the ChE degree are Bio 1202, the Bio labs, and the physics labs. That's only 7 more hours, and the labs are a joke. I took the pre-reqs, and I didn't think it added all that much to my plate. Those classes are pretty minuscule in comparison with the required courses for the degree.
ChE is the more valuable degree by a mile, so if it's a backup career plan, I would go ChE over BE.

I don't think they do. Neither does Auburn. She would have to go to UF but she changed her mind.

All smart women aren't ugly or average! She's beautiful. ChemE then Med school.
I was in ChemE at LSU. The few chicks in the program are brutal looking. Stop lying to yourself.

She wanted to do biomedical engineering but loves chemistry. We have an acquaintance on a medical school admissions board that told us any engineering help her get accepted.
And choosing between Auburn and LSU. At least send her to Alabama

You should have gone to Auburn.

I was just interested in housing, good places to live safety, the normal mom thing.
I was scared it would turn into this but I had high hopes.

you haven't been lurking long.
My daughter is in Miller, with all the sorority girls. If yours is interested in Engineering, there is an engineering residential hall that would locate her with other engineering students. LINK
might be a good fit. i'm thinking chock full of nerds and foreigners, but that's engineering.
