I remember getting emails as well, I just personally couldn't imagine getting involved after graduation. Organizations change so much every 4 or 5 years, it's not really the same fraternity you were in anymore.

As far as nationals is concerned, I do remember when they used to visit. God it was awful. I don't know what they expect a fraternity to be. I mean I get that they don't want to be labeled as an organization that is all about alcohol poisoning and date rape, but they don't want you doing shite. Fraternity or not, you get a bunch of college aged kids together, and they are going to drink and do some ridiculous things over their college careers. I don't see why they have such high expectations just because you are greek.

We were able to serve alcohol at the house with a 3rd party provider and continued to have parties after the review (had to change the name of the Facedown party). I'll admit the smoking got too relaxed, but we figured it was better to allow it in the house then tell people to go out in their cars in the frat lots like many fraternities did, which we found utterly stupid with LSUPD patrolling constantly. Many of the notorious smokers had the best grades, personalities & women on their side while the notorious alcoholics did not.

No shite? I had just graduated when that SAE died from alcohol poisoning he got from Murphy's. It was around 1996 or 1997 I think.

Anyway, I know they banned alcohol from the fraternities right after that (I honestly thought it was the whole campus). I remember hearing about how they had have their parties off campus at alum's houses......things must have changed.

Serranos (RIP) would set up in the Chapter Room and serve P&G Bud Light for $2. Only guys were allowed upstairs during parties unless we were able to throw some bones at security and that's where the liquor consumption took place.

Didn't even realize that's who that was. That's embarrassing.

Especially since they looked like a bunch of third graders having a fight at recess.

Got to disagree with this. Smoking pot in the house is just stupid. I don't care what your grades are, and I really don't care that you smoke, but do that at a friends house or some shite. If you get caught smoking in your car, then that's the risk you take smoking pot. It was a small issue even when I was there. It was highly against the rules, but people still did it. If done correctly, no one should even know. But I can't tell you how many times I walked in on people smoking in the solarium. That's just stupid. And I don't want to be in there with you when LSUPD or Greek Affairs stops by. Don't screw with the entire organization just because you want to get high.

I never saw anyone smoke in the solarium and they'd definitely be called out and corrected if so so we're on the same page there. As for smoking on the 2nd floor, 3rd floor or roof, if you were an active, go for it.

Gotcha. I think I was in the last generation of the true "Glory Days" of being in a fraternity at LSU. There was a loophole in the law so the drinking age was still 18 (that's what was enforced anyway).

We had several open kegs at every party. Just help yourself. We usually hired someone to serve daiquiri's also (the girls loved this). Usuallywe hired a band. This was all downstairs and in the front yard.

shite, sometimes we would just get a keg on a random Thursday and put it in the solarium and just relax. (and skip class on Friday.. )

This NEVER happened when I was there. Not a lot of potheads when I was a member. There were a few and they kept it off campus at people's apartments, etc. We just drank a lot.....

Did you live in the house? If you were around long enough, you saw it. I remember a gravity bong in the solarium one night using pots from the kitchen . It wasn't an all the time thing by any means, it just happened every once in a while (probably 4 or 5 times in the 2+ years I lived there ,so I guess I can tell you how many times ) and could easily screw everything up. Should be zero times. Smoking in the room happened all the time. Still not okay, but better than out in the open. Like I said, if it was happening and I never knew, then you are hiding it well enough. But when you'd walk in a room and see a pipe or some shite, then that's out of line. From the time I had gotten there until I left, it had definitely become more of an issue.

We were always told how much better the men before us did it and we all knew it was true. Kegs were definitely reserved for the Parade Grounds only but I remember starting up the daq machine during pregames at the house before exchanges and sorority bus trips. As for the band parties, I miss the front row beer showers

KG6, I did not live in the house but I respected it & it's rooms knowing 20+ others did. Was this the case for everyone? Of course not, as they saw it as an opportunity to frick shite up because they weren't the ones cleaning it up.

I'm not belushi, I'm just being realistic.

If you have all straight laced guys in your chapter, you're going to be boring as frick. You also can't have all raging partiers, but there needs to be a balance.

I upvoted your post above.

Pot was almost unheard of in the late 80s - early 90s.

I mean, a few guys might have known about the one guy who some would suspect did a ilttle weed, but that guy had enough respect to keep that shite way off campus and remain quiet about it.

I feel this is definitely what we had. Some guys partied harder than others. Simple as that. We had a nice balance and the girls dug it....

This is exactly how it was with my fraternity at that time....

I'm saying it happened when I was there, but it wasn't "accepted". If someone saw you that didn't like you, they could easily turn you in and you were gone. It was definitely not a "go for it" attitude. It's just hard to turn someone in if you know they might get kicked out. No-one wanted that.

I still can't figure out who you are and adding that you were a chopper only adds to the confusion.
