How long does it take a total novice to train for the navy? From maintenance guys, to pilot for the ship itself or function anywhere on the ship really.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. The navy has specific rates, otherwise known as jobs, that people are specifically trained to do in A-school, once completing basic. Each rate has varying A-school time frames for graduation.

Yeah I have idea, I just want to know how much time it take for a complete novice who never sail before, to be train for the navy. Like something like Janitorial duty I wouldn't expect a long time.
HOwever, everything else to run a ship, for all position, what's the estimate time to train and crew a ship like a destroyer?

Boot camp is 8 weeks...or was.
Non-rated striker school (airman, seaman or fireman) is around 4 weeks in length.
Then off to the fleet.

you can't estimate all jobs because the training period for all is different. Something like a janitor doesn't exist. Clean your own shite.
