There are many drugs that are felonies for possesion. I think you misread my post. I meant that a felony for Marijuana would be for distribution.

And we can argue all day as to whether it should legal or not. But as the law stands, it is illegal and these people were caught performing illegal activities that carries a felony penalty.

Everybody knows it is illegal so if you decide to break the law, that is on you and you should carry the brunt of the blame.

I always find it very hard to believe how many of my republican friends from Louisiana support TOPS.

TOPS, as initially envisioned, was supposed to be a means of getting more of the students who may opt to go out of state due to scholarship opportunities to stay in state. Setting the bar so low, in particular the GPA in a state with profoundly bad schools, was a recipe for disaster.

TOPS is a joke that drains LSU of critical funds it could use to improve its' faculty and facilities
If you think LSU hasn't reaped a windfall of revenue as a result of tops, you are sorely mistaken. Every college in the state, including LSU, has been lobbying for full tops funding. The schools at each level of tuition get additional students who otherwise would have chosen a cheaper school, a technical school, or no school.

Does this hurt LSU? It may but only because some marginal smaller schools may have ceased to exist without TOPS money allowing for more funds throughout the system.

It's less than other states. Florida is around 3b. It's still only about 1% of allocated taxes.

Florida had 20.27 Million people in 2015, Louisiana had 4.67 million. Louisiana is the 7th largest food stamp recipient per capita.
