Funny this came up
Was married twenty years
Mostly in California
Divorced for eleven now.
She did not ask for lifetime alimony, but I paid a very large amount for ten years.
She also got the house with several thousand dollars of equity.
She sold it and has been traveling the world the past few years.
Right now she is in India..
I am visiting my daughter right now. My daughter is getting married in a few months. I asked my ex-wife several months ago about helping to pay for the wedding. She declined.
Last night, my daughter face timing her mom. I could hear my ex wife talking about all her travels.
It chapped my hide
on the bright-side, at least you are married to that anymore.

Although the decision is proper it is going to be hard for a lot of the families as these women simply dont have any skills. All those who have sat around for years on the take dont have much to offer the working world.
Its pretty sad if you think about it.

Time to get off your lazy arse and get a job. I wonder how much she contributed to the marriage($$$) while they were still together.

I know a woman married 25 years, the 2 youngest are 15 and 16. She was a stay at home wife, cooked every night, took care of the house and kids, even did the yard work while the husband flew all over for work. One day he says “I need to find myself” goes off while she waits. Eventually she figures out the first woman and the second. Gets a lawyer. He’s pissed because the writing is on the wall… half his retirement, child support and alimony. He thinks she’s dating (she is and is very pretty) having more success than him so he’s trying to threaten and convince her he’s going to be broke. Thing is…. He listened to all his buddy’s who got divorced and how great it is instead of appreciating what he had. Now he’s going to pay a lot to her while he finds himself. Sorry no pics.

So the contract is terminated, but she should continue to benefit from the contract?
I think if they're going to get alimony they need to continue to fulfill their end of the contract and provide house cleaning, errands, cooking and sexual services. It's only fair.
