Have in-laws in Kansas, and there is a Menard’s there. Never bought anything expensive there but the damn people are hardworking helpful and kind, I can’t wait to go back. Plus they speak to you in English you can understand

My friends had visitors come down from Wisconsin and they brought 12 cases. I’ve got one sitting in my closet.

Also on Fleet Farm vs Farm & Fleet, I heard the brothers had a falling out and that’s why it split. My dad used to drag us there all the time when we were kids and I hated it. As an adult I miss Menards.

ETA: woodman’s has a great beer selection

I think the difficulty in acquiring it, for those out of state, has elevated Cow to mythical status. I've never found it to be all that special.

Agreed. It’s fine but I like New Glarus fruit beers and nut brown better. Love the spotted cow can design though.

If you don’t have Culver’s oversaturation I can see where it would be something to rave about. If you are surrounded by them they can be pretty “meh.”

Having been around Culver's since they first started franchising years ago, I feel the quality has dropped a bit. It's still better than any other decent sized chain I've tried, but the burgers are not as good as they once were.

They used to be as good as a bar burger. Which is about as good as you can get. Now they are a bit drier.

Have to say it is amazing that they don't seem to have problems hiring, at least in my area. And they have a lot of people working compared to the typical McD's.

The local Culver's is busier than the McD's. Bigger as well.

New Glarus....now you're talking. There's a lot to like about Wisconsin, especially May through September. One of my favorite places to visit.

The Northwoods are awesome and can be really fun if you like being outside in the winter. It's kinda funny...you'll drive by the townie bars and there will be more snowmobiles in the parking lot than cars. Lots of hunting, ice fishing is a huge thing.

FIL lives in the UP near Iron Mountain so we visit there and throughout Wisconsin on our trips. We've done winter and it's a blast. Just a little much for a guy who lives 1400 miles south and 20 minutes from the Gulf.
Had a lot of Old Style while bar hopping in a side by side taking the trails to avoid the highway.

That's the way to go. Great people up there too. Friendly, hardy, know how to have a good time. Pretty heavily MAGA, which is part of what fuels the hatred for the FIBs that invade every summer.

they're okay, certainly not worth the almost hour it takes to get off the freeway, find a parking spot, weave through a Walmarks like mass of obese humanity to get inside and to the counter, then wait to get the sammich then wait in line to pay for it, at least not to me

Never had that experience.

I've been to 4 different ones, two multiple times. I don't have any problem finding a parking spot or a pump or getting in and out. They move you through pretty efficiently. The time is spent deciding what to get because they have so many choices.

Does it take longer that a gas station with nobody there? Sure, but there are a few more options.

In the summer it is 90% side-by-sides in those parking lots, I know I will be taking one when I take a day to some bar-hopping this summer to enjoy all of their old-fashioneds.

Fat Squirrel was my favorite offering from New Glarus but I always have at least one Spotted Cow when visiting Wisconsin.

Fleet Farm is incredible. Went to my first back in December, and was blown away.

If they made it to the SE, they'd destroy Tractor Supply.
