What are your thoughts on this? I’ve followed on and off over the years and am still unsure if it is a hoax or if there really is an existing tangible treasure chest. Fenn has said the average person only needs a copy of the poem to find the treasure, however, he has mentioned that his book offers additional subtle hints. The book isn’t cheap (selling for $40+) so is the entire thing a ploy to sell books? The link to the poem is below.

At first I thought it was legit, but the longer it goes on it begins to look more and more like a ploy/hoax

People will be speaking his name for years after his death.

If it's in plain sight some baw could have found it who doesn't know anything about the contest and just keeping quiet aboit it. Or it was buried in an avalanche or swept away in a flash flood

Would you even get to keep it if you found it on federal land?

Four people that died trying to find it didn't think it was a hoax. I'm like you, I'm unsure too.

I think it's legit. Fenn claims that a little girl in India could figure out the first two clues using Google Maps. But then it's boots on the ground to figure out the rest. According to him, he made two trips from his car to the site in the same day, due to the weight.

R/findingfennsgold on Reddit is nothing but people posting their solves and ideas

It is for sure an interesting idea, I've read the poem and have no clue, but it is cool.

I haven't kept up with it, but I became a bit fascinated with it a few years ago, especially with various searchers' opinions on what the "blaze" may mean in the poem.
