Get your medicine right Walter. You've been really combative and are playing into the old bipolar theory.

Hope you find whatever peace you had found.

Some of us decided there were better things to do in life than shiftwork. Ended up in an inbetween role that has seem how petty this shite can get.

When the org chart is set. I will always be Ops.

Ahh, you sell valves. Cool

Seriously though, you are right about the level of petty and right about a lot of Operations groups, but Ops wasn’t the group being targeted in the post I responded to. I could write a book on the interpersonal dynamics of a chemical plant. It is insanity.

I know just enough about valves to write a work order on one

What's it gonna take to get you into a 12" wedge plug tonight?

On a professional note, never ever use a butterfly unless you just can't

Not an engineer.

Everything you said is why Ops is a fricking joke conpared to even 15 years ago.

The reason engineers don't "stick around" is because the theory is sound. And while it takes you 5 years to know a PSV is sticky they have documentation that says the same, and that info predated you who figured it out because Ops feels their job is to gatekeep to feel relevant.

So yes, engineers move fast. You think they are useless. Fine, they get it. They instead plan around you and factor in your ineptitude into their results. Are they always right? frick no. Do they know more about the process than you? frick yes. And that is embarassing because it is so easy.

For 2 seconds, think. The people who ran circles around you from 1st grade until this very moment might MIGHT know more than you. You may take a breath, humble yourself, and admit that you can learn from them just like they can from you.

And respect that engineers are fricking strange so just because they arent in awe doesn't mean they don't realize your worth.

On another note. I grew up in AP before regulation and culture reform tamed these beasts. The recent process incident uptick really concerns me. But maybe I just notice it more.

Fightin tigers is correct on everything he's said. People ITT are just butthurt about it. I'm lucky to be in a good cultured unit though.
