Is this why the large liquor chain asked every customer in line if they would like to donate change to local symphony? Got me for .350

Had a bank send me a message today that they wanted any coins that could be provided. This just seems strange.
Have a container that I drop loose coins in because I don't like to carry it (also don't carry ones, but my dad will take them for golf bet distribution). Dropped it off in the drive-thru in a few zip-locks for them to count and it ended up being over $400.
Lesson: small change can add up.
