Definitely has a socialist-tone to it. It subtly disparages people who want to make money and build wealth. Sounds like your son has an activist for a teacher.

Envy and jealousy.

They say the happiest peoples in the USA are those that can cover their bills without much worry and have just enough left over, and time off, to do things they enjoy doing. Much of the unhappiness likely comes from living beyond ones means due to envy and jealousy.

Great wealth does not equate to happiness.
