You are going to have to make that donation to the LSP which is the main beneficiary of the 656.00 fine.
Mike Edmondson , the old commander of the LSP retired and became the CEO of the company granted the franchise on collecting with former State Rep, Chris Broadwater of Hammond handling the legal end . Also the writer of the bill.
It's a money grab

Does the state fine and track down people who buy one month of insurance then not pay the next 5 months but keep the ID card?
I received an OMV Notification of Cancellation of Liability Insurance just last week. It seems that my Insurance company went to a new computer system that, when it went live, it began sending out notices to OMVs that policy holders were cancelled. The State wasted no time sending out their notices with attached fines for not clearing up the matter. The fines are not cheap either. This, along with blocking your renewal for your driver's license until you submit proof and pay the fine.

quote:Yes. Insurance companies electronically report to the DMV based on VIN # when they start or stop insuring a particular vehicle. That’s how the DMV flags people for lapsed insurance. So when that policy cancels, the insurance company sends a notice to the DMV.

The whole “pay 1 month then cancel but keep the ID card” trick doesn’t work with the DMV and will only work with cops if they just look at the card and don’t actually run your info through dispatch or the computer in their cruiser.
ETA: they won’t really “track you down”. They’ll just mail you notices and stick a flag on your license that’ll prevent you from renewing your drivers license or vehicle registration until you pay off the fine.

quote:Self employed people still have to pay FICA taxes. In fact, you pay about double the FICA tax as you would as you would off W-2 wages because normally the employee pays half and the employer pays the other half. Self employed people pay both halves themself. You might want to check with an accountant.
The possibility exists he will take over my side business by the time he gets out of college. At that point, he doesn't make a "wage" so he won't have to pay SS taxes. I'm going off of memory and haven't looked at this stuff in a while.

Yep, LOL at this guy thinking that because he owns his own business that SS isn’t part of that.
What the hell deep web BS did you read making you think that not having a SSN would be beneficial in any way?

Do you drop your insurance when someone damages your car and it's in the body shop?
