It's a nice hike if you are in the area. Take the False Summit trail when you go. Like others have said if you are in the area and looking for something to do it's worth it IMO.

The day I hiked the mountain there was a group from Wisconsin ahead of me. They were there specifically to hike the mountain. They call themselves High Pointers and travel the country climbing the highest peak in every state.

Louisiana is one of three states that a building within the state is taller than the highest elevation point in the state.

Florida and Illinois are the other two

Went there on field trip, only remember hypodermic needles and human waste.

You should do the 3 day mountaineering course at Red Dirt before attempting Driskill

If you’re in the area.

Also Bonnie and Clyde death spot is about 20 mins away from there.

Like I said…if you’re in the area.

Take your dogs, pack the mosquito spray, can be a little slick after rain. Probably will see some wildlife

I saw some wild hogs down below me on the opposite side of the overlook. The Yeti I bested at the peak of the false summit was a piece of cake but I wasn't going to tangle with those hogs. I headed back down after I spied them.

Pro climbing tip: There is an ammo box even with the back of that gal's knees. In the box there is a notebook and pen to enter your name and the date of your accent. Also for a Sherpa I highly recommend Bubba Ray Rayburn.

Proud to say I have made the trek and am going back in about a month to do it again.
Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.
