A little off topic, but a buddy of mine here in Nashville is a singer/songwriter and was drinking and writing with Billy Bob Thornton one night. After getting really drunk, Thornton went into Carl nonstop for a couple hours. They went into his recording studio and got 10 minutes of him talking and “singing” ring of fire as Carl. Really weird but funny stuff.

Billy Bob’s band played a gig here in Nashville around 2003 where someone in the crowd kept yelling out for him to do Carl. BB was so pissed that he refused to go on with the show until that guy was kicked out.
Hopefully, he’s now more comfortable with the fact that he will be forever remembered as Carl.
