We've known this for years. Welcome to 1996.

I have a 2004, 150,000 miles on it. It developed a small oil leak around 100,000 miles about a quart every 3 months. I keep adding a quart of synthetic every 3 months and have not had an official oil change for 50,000 miles. Still get over 32 miles to the gallon.

I once got into a bit of a scrap with the vietnamese dude at benny's on essen. He said I needed an oil change in my suburban and I told him no thanks my vehicle tells me when the oil needs changing.
He said that was wrong and I was damaging my engine.
I told him if he knew more about my vehicle than the GM engineers that designed it that he was overqualified for his current position.
He didn't like that.
