I have lost 15 lbs in 3 months by eating only in the evenings, combined with lots of walking and going to the gym regularly. Cut out some desserts and most bread, less soda. In the past I have always been able to lose a few quickly with IF. the most important thing for any diet though is will power.

Of course it works. Weight loss is simple.. Calories in vs calories out. If, for example, you wait until noon to eat your first meal of the day (lunch) and then have dinner in the evening, you're splitting your calories between two meals which means much larger and more satisfying meals. For some people, this is much easier than eating clean. Some others can't handle skipping meals, and that's fine too. I had been doing IF for years without realizing it simply because I'm not a breakfast person.

Studies show that your body does not go into starvation mode until more than 2 days have passed. Intermittent fasting is a great way to stay under your calories if you're not someone who likes eating like a bird. I'm a huge fan of it, but it does not send your body into starvation mode. Humans are built to go far longer than just a few hours without food.

Also I think they recommend you do your workout(lifting) right before you break your fast. For a lot of people thats around lunch and may not be possible, but if you can i highly recommend it. I didn't lose any energy in my lifts and my metabolism would absolutely crush whatever I ate right after my workout.
