That's dumb.

Why? I prefer quality over money savings. Walmart and Target do not match Tom thumb in quality and barely beat them in price.

Or people who don't mind paying a premium for better quality.

I didn't actually say that. That was the first guy. I said they can be easily avoided in a lot of places.

What if it doesn't have the correct horse on it? Aren't you scared the TD gays will be starting threads, concerning themselves with what other men wear?

There is zero difference in the quality of produce. A honeycrisp apple is the same everywhere.

Choice beef is choice beef. Same with the chicken and pork brands. If you want prime, that's going to be another store, but otherwise it's all the same stuff.

I know, I was just reiterating how dumb I believe that statement to be.

I like to select my produce

I’d never trust them to pick out a ripe avocado

Agreed. I wouldn't use the curbside stuff for produce or meat either, but there is no difference in quality at Wal-Mart compared to Whole Foods when comparing apples to apples, literally and figuratively.

Um no it isn't. Nicer store will buy from better farms. It's why whole foods produce is more expensive than Kroger.

Walmart has stuff shipped in prepackaged. They do not have a meat counter.

I managed a grocery store, I assure you whole foods isn't getting the same produce or meats as Walmart, even if they both say choice. We had whole primals shipped and the meat cutters would cut them to size and sell.

I think it's amazing. Walmart discovered the greatest thing that they can do for their customers is prevent them from having to go inside of it.

Do time and sanity not factor into anything you do?

I'm just not that type of person. I also won't go to busy restaurants during peak hours, won't dine with a group without a reservation, won't stop by Trader Joe's unless it's 9AM on a weekday, etc. I pick my stores based on left turns vs. right turns to get there/back too. So it isn't just a WalMart thing.

People pay more for less headache with all kinds of businesses - hotels, airlines, clothing stores, doctor/vet offices. Premium options wouldn't exist if saving a dollar was as important to everyone as it is to you.

We tried them on the produce thing. They had awesome bananas, cukes, and Clementines. They passed the test so we have continued. The only meat we get there is boneless, skinless chicken breast. It is always $1.99 per lb.

My wife loves the convenience. Publix has it here too, but their prices are elevated.

That's a big reason too. I can get to and from Tom thumb in under 4 minutes without hitting any major road and going through one red light that is almost never red. Even though walmart is also under a mile away, I have to go on a major dallas loop which is always backed up and there's a horribly short light to turn left back to my place.

I assure you will never, ever know the difference.

I'm all for quality, and there are many things you simply can't get at Wal-Mart, but by and large their produce is interchangeable with "premium" stores.

I say thay while also saying Wal-Mart isn't the most enjoyable place to shop, no argument there.

Eh. Agree to disagree. That is not true in my experience.

I pay a premium for convenience when necessary, and I also know some Walmarts are better experiences than others.

Then they really need to work on how they display it. The produce always looks like shite when I do visit Walmart.

Walmart is as lazy as it gets with produce. It's all shipped in trays and they just change out the trays.

I find Walmart meat to be just as expensive and often more so than a local AG store, Winn Dixie or Albertsons. They are cheaper on almost everything else though.
