This pretty much sums up my current attitude.
I'm not working for nothing. If you can find it $100 cheaper than I will build it, go for it.
Like you, don't expect fine exotic wood in your project if you have a pine budget.
No, you can't come help me to save money. All you're going to do is get in my way and slow me down, costing you more money and me more time.
I will stick with it from start to finish in a timely manner to keep my head in the project.

My guess is that most people would not be willing pay a fair price for the item. A hand-made wooden rocking chair takes hours of labor, and if the craftsman wants a fair wage for his work-hours, that chair will be expensive.
Now, if the craftsman is just in the game to be a nice guy and doesn't mind being paid minimum wage for his labor, then, my scenario doesn't apply.
