I think you use a 9 lb bag of match light. fill the thing up with meat and wood chips, put the charcoal in the little chimney and around the base and light. Forget about it until the time is up.

No temp control. Take a bag of match lightm fill around the can, and put some on top as seen im op pic. Light it, chill and drink beer and watch the game, once time is up open and eat
