Grandma had a friend whose grandson had cut the seatbelts out of his truck so he wouldn't have to wear one.

Only wear a seatbelt in Louisiana. All of the drivers in other states don't drive like arse clowns. We went to nola this weekend, and the first thing my friends from Arky said was, man people really suck at driving here as we passed 5 wrecks on I10 Friday.

Post above beat me to it, but I'll share anyway. Older dude at our old church would get a razor and cut seat belts out every time he bought a new truck. He's still with us for time being
Also, like many others have said, my parents were sticklers for wearing belts. And I'm 48, so my childhood was before the big emphasis on wearing seatbelts. In fact, it's so ingrained into my mind that every once in a while when I sit down in my recliner I instinctively reach for the seatbelt

Knew a person who won't wear them since he got t-boned by a truck and he forgot to wear his seat belt. He got sent out the passenger window and the drivers side all caved in.

I didn't until years ago I got in a wreck. Totaled the car but I happened to be wearing mine that day and it saved my arse.
