The few times I've been in Louisiana, you can see a cultural difference. I've found that North Louisiana shares more similarities with the likes of Texas, Mississippi, Alabama. South Louisiana, really doesn't resemble other Southern states (South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and so forth). South Louisiana, in my opinion, has it's own unique identity that really none other shares. Is is Southern? Sure. Did they send men to participate and fight in the Civil War? Sure. It just has such a unique identity that no one else shares.
Cajuns are different, sure, and New Orleans is it's own world, but a lot of south Louisiana is just like other gulf coast areas.

I just don't think there's as much southern pride in Texas like there is in other states.

Or Midwest at least
Everyone in this thread bringing up the Midwest realizes that the Midwest is Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, etc. right? Texas may be a lot of things, Midwest ain't one of them.

Yes. So did John Bell Hood.

I can attest to the fact that there are an awful lot of people in upstate New York, rural New Jersey and rural Pennsylvania that would fit right in with a redneck family reunion in Alabama.
I grew up in a town of about 900 in central NY, and its pretty close to being true.

Texas pride is annoying.

What is your reasoning behind thinking north Louisiana is not southern and north Louisiana is?
Uhhhhhhh. Yes?

Texas is Texas. It's not the south
