I still carry my dad's in my car from when he was a sheriff deputy in the 60s. Course someone would have to get past my Glock 33 first

I grew up near a small town whose cop always had one and/or a billy club and the were not used sparingly.

my grandparents operated a store many years ago and there was one behind the counter.
also a small tube about the size of a large ballpoint pen that had a firing pin that would activate a small cartridge (about the size of 9mm) of tear gas. never was quite sure about that. this was late 60's- early 70's.

My dad's middle brother was retired special forces with three tours to Vietnam. He did 20 years for the sheriffs department also. I asked him why he did not carried a Billy club and such a big mag light flash light. His answer was it reads better on report that you hit someone with a flash light!

Cameron Parish sheriff dept used them well into the 1990's when breaking up bar fights between pogey fishermen and locals. Just knock everyone out and then sort it out. Someone would claim racial discrimination and local FBI would testify that it's like the Wild West in Cameron thus justified.
