My last great-grandparent died this past Wednesday at the age of 97. He was a WWII veteran. Just hope one day I can be half the man he was.
that's a long life
sorry for your loss
but his spirit lives on and knows how you feel

I lost my last Grandparent two months ago, she was 90. My son is 9 and he has only 1 left. I feel sad that he will not have that experience like I did.
This for sure with my kids. They have 3 left, but none live close and only 2 make much effort. The one we lost is the one I'd have most wanted them to know (my mom died when my son was not quite 2 and daughter was weeks away from being born). Having been SO close to my grandmother, it hurts that they won't have that closeness with theirs. Other grandmother loves them but doesn't put lots of effort into seeing them.

I think so but I think everyone wishes they had done more.
I was close with my Paternal Grandparents and stayed with them when my Parents went out of town.Which was most Football Saturdays. They passed away when I was 19-21.
One of my favorite memories is watching Mohammad Ali fights with them.It seemed so out of character for them but they always watched his fights, which came on usually on a weekday night on ABC.
Good Thread.

But for some reason, told me bye when we left. Never saw him again.
he knew he was gonna die soon
when dad died, mom said she lost her boyfriend
when you are married that long, the loss is crushing to the survivor
