No legit business or development opportunity is going to be swayed one way or another by the city allowing, or not allowing, money to be spent on Nike shoes.

Some people may question the wisdom of opening a business in a city with such an idiot as the mayor... but honestly most mayors are idiots and most companies have nothing to do with the local politicos.

The guy made himself look real stupid. And by backing down, there is no worry about the city having to defend itself against any type of legal action if the action would have led to a breaking of public bid laws (which was the only issue at hand. The ACLU whining about 1st amendment is stupid).
