There is video/audio available from the Gulf of Sidra incident where the navy F-14s shot down some Libyan MiGs. I know communication and crew coordination is something that is drilled into Naval Aviators, but it’s still fascinating to listen to. In the highest stress moment likely of the two aircrews careers, you can completely understand the entire engagement just by listening to the radio traffic. There’s also some good audio from a flight of F-16s on the opening night of Desert Storm that’s pretty impressive as well.

There’s a lot to be said about communication skills and these are really neat to hear.

Why would the B-52 not have made some maneuvers to not make it such a close call? It sounds like the B-52 was behind the airline, going faster, and over took them?

The B-52 was performing a flyby for the ND State Fair. From what I understand, the B-52 was under control of the Minot AFB Tower who has radar. The Delta aircraft was in touch with the control tower at Minot Int'l. Obviously, both aircraft are always tasked with "see and avoid" and I don't know why the B-52 crew didn't have visual with the Delta aircraft. But, this is a failure of the two different control towers not working out deconfliction between the aircraft. And their should have been a NOTAM out warning the commercial pilots of the flyby activity which is abnormal and not part of normal traffic patterns near the two airports.

They do touch n goes with the B52 at SHV

Not quite. We do low approaches at SHV, but are not cleared to do touch and goes there. Runway is too short to attempt that because if for some reason we had to abort the "go" portion of that, we would run off the end of the runway before stopping. It's also too narrow and we'd break a lot of the raised lighting for the runway with our tip gear.
