Unfortunately, Insurance claim is the only suitable answer.

Engine replacement; diesel engines aren’t cheap. Your friend is a dumbass, not the dealerships fault.

With Def receptacle being next to the fuel one it’s bound to happen.

have a 5500 Ram that someone “mistakenly” put DEF in the diesel tank.

If he noticed his mistake he could've just dropped the fuel tank and drained it

Distilled water and urea……. Water doesn’t compress and urea destroys metal. Tell your guy to call some junk yards in Houston and try to find a wrecked van that’s low mileage to get the driveline out of. The dealership will always try to rape you no matter what and should be avoided. Dealership mechanics don’t make much money off of warranty repairs….. but when you bring something that’s out of warranty that’s when they break out the hard pecker and look for a place to stick it. Good luck

Loss of compression and metal flakes in oil… yeah that engine is fricked.

On the 5500 both caps located on the same side... DEF tank behind passenger door on the driver side... I guess we avoid this situation by never using DEF from the pump with our trucks... we got pallets of the shite in the warehouse

Why would they not make the DEF pump a different shape like square or oval so it doesn’t fit in either?

Why would he need to do this. It’s covered under insurance. Let the repair shop find the parts.
People who don’t file something like this with their carrier are morons.
