Just now seeing this thread but my wife and I just went through this with our 6 month old. We tried cry it out for about 16 days and it never seemed to work. We held firm with our bedtime routine and everything and were still getting little to no sleep. That all changed one night when i decided to lay the little guy one his belly for the night. WOW!!! Now he sleepo from 7:45-3:30ish, wakes to feed**, then back asleep till 6:30. We quit putiing him in the miracle blanket/swaddle. Now we lay him down partially awak, he rolls around for 3-5 minutes, then he puts himself to sleep. We were at our wits end. Hang in there. This is what worked for us but may not work with every child. Find out what works best for you and your wife and stick to it. Otherwise they'll have you trained forever. Good Luck!
**My little boy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 2 weeks old (LINK /). Thats why we still have to nurse him at night to make sure he gets enough food, calories. Otherwise we would let him sleep through the night and i think he would.

Do what works. No one can tell you the best way to put your kid to bed.
We've had three (about to be 4). They were all different.
