308s pretty impressive. burpees aren't that bad if you take them steady. I'm betting handstand pushups are going to be in the open this year and those burn me out real quick

I'd be surprised to see these before 14.4 or 5 if at all. If they do use them, i would bet it is low reps. Problem also is they are hard to judge.

usually they weed out people with muscle ups.

That's what everyone is saying but they had HSPUs in the judges course this year so I wouldn't be surprised to see them.

This is my first Open as I started CrossFit in August so I'm getting the hang of what it's all about. I hope they have muscle ups soon because I've been putting in extra work doing them while fatigued in preparation for the Open.

HSPU don't really bother me much. Also we have to get ready for those 150 wall balls that they will sneak in there lol

My buddy did the 398 after doing 360 Thursday and he submitted it.

I got 265. Not happy but it's whatever. I suck at open type workouts

Additional point they out stuff in the judges course for people who will judge at regionals. Handstand push-ups bar likely won't be in there due to what is hard to judge just like say running.

Probably won't see bar muscle ups since not all rigs have a muscle up bar and definitely not enough for large groups

That makes sense what you're saying about regionals judging for the HSPUs. I'd be glad to go through this open without having to do any, but then again it could be an advantage as they would weed out a lot of people who can't do them Rx just like the muscle ups.

Had a guy redo 14.1 at our gym and improved 20 reps to 350. Our coach suggested a pacing scheme in GTOH of 10 then 5 with rest of exactly 5 seconds before finishing on the 1st round then breaking up subsequent rounds into sets of I think 8-4-3 with 7 seconds rest before going back to DUs. It worked big time some, not so much for me. Of course said guy is about 10 years younger with a lot less wear and tear, oh and a former LSU walk-on and a personal trainer.

I'm always curious to see how people to AMRAP workouts. I like the set cycle method personally. When I do Cindy, for example, I set a goal of 22 rounds. I do the first 15 rounds at one round per minute. I usually finish with about 40 seconds per round so then I have 20 seconds to rest and recover my heart rate.

Then from 15 on I go non-stop. It works for me.

After twelve weeks of box squats I would do a smovlov cycle. Until summer is over I would switch over completely to gslp format for squats but bump the reps to the twelve to twenty range. You need to be under the bar and get comfortable pushing it as it gets hard as hell and high rep squats would do that to you. I would say two sets at twelve then one closer to twenty. They are brutal.

Why I say box squats is because it sounds like you are having most trouble coming out the hole.

This sounds insanely awesomely brutal. Idk if I got the sand to stick with this, but I might devote my next cycle to this.

Wish me luck! I will respond with results if I do!

Thoughts on 14.2? Loving the pull-up aspect, but thinking the squats are gonna merk me. This will not be a strong showing from me.

O and update dat OP with my 14.1 results yo !

6 rounds +32 = 302 total

Just watched the 14.2 video, not a super legit WYHI but thoughts on the chick demoing the WOD? Solid face, but I'm pretty sure she could snap not cock off if she flexed her thighs. Those things were insane.

Also, seems like they're getting less strict in their technique restrictions (allowing clean jerk last week when it said snatches). They said you can bend your arms as long as you lockout at the top. So could you start out locked, descend down, drop the bar onto your traps, push it up like a normal squat and then press it out, basically like a thruster but from behind the neck?

Sounds like there's nothing against it, but that seems horribly out of spirit with the workout.

I feel like that's just making it harder on yourself anyway. The same way doing C&J made it harder to get a lot of reps on 14.1

As long as it stays overhead you are good. Harder to not just keep then locked out anyways.

I'll update OP in a bit. Not at home.

Girlfriend just got 127 since she is going on a SB cruise today. She easily could have finished the round but her hand ripped. Two guys that got 300+ Last week got around 115-120.

I'll do it probably today or tomorrow. Need to get gloves my calluses have calluses
