Traditional surgical masks would be good (not perfect) to capture the virus as its sheds from an infected person during normal breathing.
Traditional surgical masks are not good (utterly zero protection) for a person breathing in because they don't fit tight to the face.
The right answer is those tight fitting masks (maybe N95) for the uninfected.
