Sorry if already posted. This is just a terribly sad story and maybe a cautionary tale.

COMANCHE, Okla. (KFOR) — A tragic accident on Christmas Day leaves a beloved grandmother dead and one man facing a first-degree manslaughter charge.

Court documents detail the moments when Stephens County deputies arrived at the scene. According to witnesses, Phelps was sitting on the porch holding a child when the group heard someone shooting five to seven rounds over several minutes.
Documents say shortly after the shots were heard, Phelps shouted “ouch” and collapsed.
It was later learned that a bullet had travelled through Phelps’ arm and into her chest cavity, killing her.

Court documents allege that, after arriving, authorities began searching the area and learned that Cody Adams had gotten a Glock 45 for Christmas, and neighbors reported hearing him shooting throughout the afternoon. Deputies say Adams was shooting at a Redbull can on the ground in his backyard, and they note there was nothing behind the property to stop the bullets from traveling beyond the yard.
It’s stated in the documents that Adams became upset and began to cry when he was told his shooting may have caused Phelps’ death.
quote:
“You hear it in the neighborhood all the time. It’s, you know, from both directions and from the back. Also, it’s something that that goes on constantly,” said Phelps’ neighbor, Jerry McDonald.

Due to the frequent shooting that some neighbors say they heard that day, they are questioning whether the police have the right suspect.

Where are these idiots shooting? No backstop? How are the homes laid out?

They have the victim with I imagine the bullet as well as the suspect and his firearm; so, I would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to confirm.

Know your target and what's behind it.
Gun safety 101.

You'd think that a .45 through your arm and into your body would have deserved more than an "ouch."
Granny was a tough old girl.

The cops have the gun and I assume they'd have the bullet from the victim's body. Forensics lab will easily be able to tell whether the bullet was fired from that particular gun.

Glock 45 is a 9. If you want a .45 you need a Glock 21, 30, or 36. For plinking though I recommend the Glock 44 which is a .22 but make sure you don't get a 22 if you want .22 because a 22 is a .40, so if you want a .40 get a 22 because if you get a 40 that's actually a 10. Fortunately there is no 10 because that shite would be too confusing.

Thanks, I'm not a Glock guy but even a 9mm going through her arm and into her chest is still quite an impact.

You might be surprised at how much of a ricochet a finger sized branch can cause.

Very very sad.
I'm sure the guy was excited about his new pistol and had no intention to kill a woman with it on Christmas day.
But he killed this woman through criminal negligence. Inarguable and careless violation of Rule 4.
There needs to be consequences.
