I like Breck, Steam or Tell at Christmas. I also like Piko, Manu, and Kilter around that time. So much more luster, less crowds and the scenery is amazing. Just depends upon what you are into!

Might also want to consider flying into Beaver Creek but more expensive and still probably 30 minute drive to Breckinridge .

If he's flying into Eagle airport why would he go to Breck when Vail is right there? If I were flying into Eagle airport I would go to Copper.

If you live in BR and are thinking about going to Steamboat, a direct flight is pretty pricey. ($600-$700 I think) You could take SW from MSY to DIA ($175-$300 max), but you have about a 3-3:30 drive through the mountains. If you have never driven in ice/snow before, I highly recommend planning to do this trip during the day, and renting a 4WD wagon or SUV.

Or you can drive the four hours from BR to Houston and take the direct flight from there to The Hayden airport. The price is comparable to SW, and you do the driving on an easier road.

He can also fly in to Aspen airport but that won't be a cheap flight either. But from Aspen you have both Aspen and Snowmass ski areas.

I've been to Breck several times during Christmas. Just don't travel on the heavy days(Sat/Sun). Stop at the Wally World on the way up and get your groceries, park your vehicle at the hotel, and enjoy yourself.

If you plan on boarding/skiing, and you are a novice, it will be crowded as hell, but so will every other resort area mentioned in here.

Breck is my favorite resort area in Colorado for the price. Everything is centrally located.
