I swear I read more whining from Atheists than I do actual preaching from the Jesus freaks.

No you don't.

I fricking LOOOOOOOOOVE Christmas. Not the manger and stuff, but all the OTHER stuff we all seem to enjoy. The secular holiday that is Christmas in America. The one we saw displayed in A Christmas Story. That one.

Lights, decorations, good food, hanging out with friends and family, gift giving, songs...hell, I even like the religious ones...

I'm as outspoken an atheist as is allowed on this board, and I'm straight up telling you that you don't know what the frick you're talking about.

Now...I'm actually surprised Bill O'Reily has not already started his annual whining about the perceived War on Christmas. Speaking of shite that starts early...

I can understand some of the hate re: forced family interactions and consumerism, but that's not really what it's supposed to be about. Even if one doesn't believe in God or whoever, it can still be a good time for fun and happiness.

I would enjoy the season if it were more family oriented across the board, because I enjoy that aspect of it; but It is about people buying as much shite as they can afford or finance. Everything is scaled to the absurd.

This culture is pervasive, and impossible to ignore when living in America.

25-30 is costume parties and still getting shite faced.

25-30? Who made that rule? I'm way past 30 and I still do that, just sometime skip the costume part.

I've found that those times when I've gotten out and enjoyed the goings on more, plays, performances and events, that I had a good holiday season.
