The Tribune article also reports that gunshot wounds are down (But still in the thousands). That argues for really experienced doctors plying their craft well.
Locally, one station reported the OD deaths last year. Over 500 in that county. Makes gun deaths and traffic deaths seem a minor loss. As taxpayers we are wasting a huge amount of money educating young people who barely have time to use that education before fentanyl gets them.
eta. I found an AMA long article about 2022 drug problems. First are the references to general population, then there is a breakout state by state, the articles about EACH FRICKIN' STATE's drug problems last year.
