It all goes back to the number of uninsured motorists. If a policy is cancelled either by the company, or by the insured, it is in writing. Insurance companies are very strict about making sure that it is documented as well. It's being kept. I guarantee you that.

There are also a lot of people who play the game of getting insurance to get their registration issued or license reinstated. FL will suspend your license pretty quickly for no insurance, so I need to make sure I have proof you requested a cancellation when you inevitably come back and ask why your license is suspended.

Politicians of the OT, why the hell would Louisiana think it would be a good idea to require that I write a fricking e-mail to the insurance company to cancel my policy? Was policies magically getting canceled a big problem at one time?

Because deadbeats will cancel over the phone and then file claims months later saying they never cancelled. Written cancellation = proof.

Both. Do you think High insurances rates?

This is beyond stupid. Do you normally engage in contracts without written verification?

I assume its to cover the insurer as well as the insured. It kinda makes sense too. How hard is it to send an email?

An insurance policy is a contract. What other contract exists that is cancelable without any type of written record?
