They have unlimited snacks and water bottles given to them by women who want a selfie to show the world how they are "helping".
They came to my town and it was honestly a bit of a circus.

When they say "rely," it means something a little different. They expect no donations. They desire no donations (Well, that's not totally true as they are not without desire. They strive to not desire, which in itself is a form of desire, which is a whole thing/trap in Buddhism).
Anyways, if the universe sees it fit to put these donations in their way, they will consume what is needed to continue.
