I think we have this set up. Low- City, Howell, Dumas. Mid- Webb. High- Beaver and SM
We could even cut that down. Cut City and Howell, upgrade the rest accordingly. Have Beaver and SM offer memberships for those courses both exclusively and jointly and have them host amateur tournaments.

will that help the quality of golf if still owned by brec? I just don't know how that would help?

Don't deny that.
Sherwood CC folded because they failed to make necessary upgrades to the course for years and pissed away money on shite like the pool, new pro shop, and tennis. I was a member there and bailed because of the stupidity. Before it became the Oaks.

A sweeping cut like that just doesn't make sense from an agronomic standpoint.
Is water even a concern in BR? Are there restrictions?

It would be great for the BTR golf scene if Santa Maria was a private course - but based on this article obviously a bad decision for BREC

I would put up stock money and start paying dues immediately if they went back to being a private course.

I think it will. If I remember correctly, you can't buy a membership to those two courses (Beaver and SM) without buying one to the others also but you can buy a membership to all of the other courses without getting one to those two.
I think a lot of people that golf at those two courses, play exclusively at those two and do not play on the more run down courses so they do not but the memberships.

What would be a fair membership price for those 2 courses?

The problem with the membership to Santa Maria is that it doesn't provide the best part of a membership to other clubs, privacy. Anyone can go out there and play, and those people don't treat the course like members of a truly private club do.

Both. They sell yearly memberships which some might call "dues"

i'm pretty sure the brec all in one membership is still a decent price for either one of those courses by themselves

I think they should stop cutting the rough at all. that haz to cut the maintenance time in half. Also, I would put a driving range at city park where you drive the ball into the lake. Have floating balls and a boat pick balls up. Have lights at the bottom of the lake so you can drive at night.
I would pave the entire city park and install artificial grass. Save money on maintenance and water. Then on game day you can park on the grass and run a shuttle and charge people to park.

but if still owned by brec you think they would keep the dues paid for SM at SM? Not a chance, dues paid to SM would be pulled out to dump into the other courses. It would be a continuation of the setup now. And Brec will never let go of the only course that makes money.

1700 for an annual 7 day 7 course pass
141 bucks a month for all you can play is a steal....so if they offered an exclusive card to play beaver or sm, i dont think i'd expect it to be much cheaper

I flew right over the Oaks on a photo flight the other day and I tell ya, it was depressing to look at from 1500' ...

your not going to get a private golf experience playing at brec.

NOPE. I feel like I am trying to play with idiots there most of the time.

there aren't enough people wanting a private/semiprivate experience
otherwise, several more of those clubs would still be open

well in this thread thats what everyone is suggesting. To offer "memberships" to BC and SM wont solve any problem if still run by brec.
