Yea this title is a bit hyperbolic
MRI machines were originally called nMRI machines, but they dropped the nuclear prefix “n” because people would jump to wrong conclusions

My Organic instructor was a big nmr guy. He was a pioneer in organoborane research via introduction into nmr/MRI fields.
It is called nmr because in it, nuclei are exposed to a strong magnetic field and influenced by a weaker fluctuating field (at least that's what I recall from 30 years ago or so). So, people were threatening to blow up a magnet.
