Yep, looks like those comrades did alright
Yep, and landed with the gear up.

That would be a tough decision. Gear up or down in a corn field? I’d probably go gear down.

Seriously though question for 777....does the APU put out enough juice to allow deployment of the langing gear on these type of jets?
Yes. The APU can supply enough electrical power for all systems.

A RAT (Ram Air Turbine, basically a generator driven by a propeller) automatically deploys when there’s a loss of electrical power and can power the flight instruments and some control surfaces also, but don’t work well at low airspeeds. Probably didn’t have time to start the APU anyway.

They probably still had takeoff flaps/slats extended also since they usually aren’t retracted until 1000’ above ground level.

1) As long as the system is still sealed, I'm assuming you can still monkeyfrick the controls and move the control surfaces without hydraulic assist, but it's hard as hell. You know, just like steering your car when the engine dies. 2) How much power do the hydraulic pumps require if the APU can't power them?
Many commercial jets are fly-by-wire. Basically they use electrically driven hydraulic actuators on the flight controls.

Might even be reusable.
