But the comment I replied to was about all violent crime and the insinuation was the over half of all violent crime was committed by blacks.
I didn’t say anything about murder (one specific subsection of violent crime) nor did the post which I replied to. I simply posted stats that disproved the assertion made in the post.
People care more about the facts that fit what they want to be true, instead of what is true. It’s why when you or others say “Blacks commit most of the violent crime!!” And then actually look at the statistics and are proven wrong - instead of reevaluating your position, you find the stat that fits your narrative (in this case murder).
You’ll also see this by the upvotes/downvotes from these posts. I suspect my post with actual data will get DV to hell, because it’s not data that people want to see. Your post with data will get a ton of upvotes. It doesn’t matter that Both data references (presumably) are correct.

A stat being correct does not make it relevant. You used a stat about total violent crime with a disregard to fixing the ratio of population issue, and I believe the stat to be true. However, since it doesn't take into account the ratio of crime per sample, only total population, it inherently skews the stats
If you take 100 African Americans and 100 Caucasians in America, statistically, a higher number of the 100 from the African American group are expected to commit a violent crime

Look back at the post I originally applied to. My stats were completely relevant. The poster wasn’t talking about the race of offenders in a proportionality context. The post was simply to the effect “blacks commit most of the violent crime in this country.” Which simply isn’t true, as evidenced by the statistics I posted.
