Best place to buy a used phone?

I bought phones off Craigslist twice. One time worked out perfect. Other time I got burned.
Lesson learned: Meet the seller a Sprint/Verizon/ATT/T-Mobile store and have an employee check the phone's ESN to make sure its clear to be activated on your account.
The time I got burned, I met up to get the phone and everything looked good. But when I got home and called Sprint to activate it, they told me it couldn't be activated because previous owner of the phone had their account closed in bad standing and owed Sprint a bunch of money. So the phone was basically blacklisted by Sprint because of that.

Go buy a gophone. I bought one for my son from the ATT store for $80, has the same specs as my 14 month old Galaxy S6 Active. I then hooked it up onto my account.
