I own some acreage in French Settlement and was planning on building a house out there on my land, however it looks as though in 3 to 5 years I may have to relocate out of town due to my job. Building on acreage wouldn't seem like a wise investment if I'm going to have to move soon. I'm not tied down to a specific location. I'm thinking either Baton Rouge or the prairieville/Gonzales area but would be willing to consider other areas. Im in oil and gas so I work all over the map and gulf so I don't need to be close to anything specific. I'm trying to take into account the fact that I have two elementary age kids. I'm currently staying in BR which means I'm having to pay for private school as opposed to the prairieville area where public school would be fine. I'm looking for advice on areas or neighborhoods and school districts. I don't want to invest too much money as I may need to sell within a few years and I don't want to have 300k+ tied up in my property. Probably willing to spend between 200k-250k and would need at least a 3bed but preferably 4.

In Baton Rouge, Kenilworth fits your budget and house size. It is a great location in regards to getting around town.

I just bought a house in denham that's 2000 sq ft 4 bedroom two bath with a 2k sprinkler system, seamless gutters throughout, wood blinds, an alarm system an intercom system and a fence in backyard. Built in 09-10 and was a model home would of cost 250k+ in BR. Plus I have a 2 yr old. So I was thinking long term for education, resale value and it comes with everything already so we were lucky

We were just looking for a startup home but received a lot more.

Kenilworth is a neighborhood in Baton Rouge, so if you send your kids to private now that would not change.

8. It's not a ton but enough for what I wanted to do. No flood zone either.
