OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - On Saturday, officials with the Ocean Springs Police Department announced the arrest of 34-year-old Ian Anthony Seghers, who is wanted for second-degree murder out of Baton Rouge, La.

Police say that around 10 p.m. Friday night, a family member of Seghers told investigators that he was staying at his home in the 5000 block of Southland Street. Officials set up surveillance on the house just before 11 p.m. and contacted the owner of the home over the phone to confirm that Seghers had been staying there for the past several days.

After that information was obtained, a search warrant was obtained and carried out on the home. Seghers was not located in the home or in the nearby woods.

On Saturday at 10:43 a.m., the homeowner contacted dispatchers to tell them he had been contacted by Seghers over the phone. Seghers explained he was hiding in the woods near the home and asked the homeowner to place his belongings outside for him to retrieve.

As a result, detectives with Ocean Springs PD obtained a second search warrant for the residence. A perimeter was set up around the area near the home, and deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the area.

Seghers was eventually caught hiding in a shed on the property by a JCSO K-9 unit. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
