The trendiness of pickleball over the last few years reminds me of racquetball in the late 1970s/early 1980s.. main difference being that racquetball required a level of physical exertion.. as Americans become even fatter and lazier, they prefer “sports” like pickleball that are easy to play and require almost no learning curve.. meanwhile the actual sport of tennis is looked down upon as some sort of ‘country club sport’ while golf - the ultimate country club game- is more popular than ever.. the only way i can make sense of it all is that obesity/BMIs are higher than ever .
