I've been to ATL a few times. I had to drive though the whole city one time and like any city there is the good, bad and ugly..

I had to go do a driving evaluation there at.. I think it was Atlanta Rehabilitation? I had to use one of their vehicles that had the hand controls set up and it was a full size extended van and I had to drive around ATL for 2 hours with this guy who does the evaluations.

I remember him showing me Author Blank's house and the house where part of the movie Zombieland was filmed. We had lunch at some hole in the wall type place that had a really good Cuban sandwich..

But I never once thought "this place is an absolute shite hole".

In this thread we have the denizens of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport calling another North American city shitty with no awareness of the hypocrisy.

Centenniel Yards is going to drastically change the area around the Benz and State Farm. It is going to be very similar to The Battery at Truist Park. I have been in the room with the development model on the conference table many times for work. It looks directly down into the construction area.

The 5th mega development they missed on the video is The Forge. It is about 1/2 mile south of Centennial Yards and will be very similar multi-use development. The developers closed on the 10 acre property this week. Look that one up.

I was at MBS Wednesday attending the state high school finals and you can already see a big difference. It's going to completely transform downtown and the city when this is done.

Props to Tony Ressler for his vision on this. This will be his legacy.

Seriously .

And you can bet that a majority of those bashing Atlanta have never been outside the borders of Louisiana

Atlanta has it's bad areas(not as many as years' past) yes but it is a beautiful, world-class city that is still very young(180 years old) and still very much growing.

The nightlife in Centennial yards is going to be bonkers - I have seen a lot of renderings of the new bars and massive nightclubs going in this new area and holy shite, it's very impressive. It's going to make attending bowl games, super bowls, world cup soccer games, falcons and hawks games one of the best experiences in America.

That's not even including the new Cosmo, restaurants, etc - It's going to be like the Battery at Truist Park times 1,000

I went to a Hawks game a year or so ago before the construction started - I have been to a few football games at the Benz but they were in the day time... Walking out of the Hawks game at night was shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaady - So glad they are finally cleaning up and revitalizing that area.

The 96 Olympics were the best and worst thing to happen to Atlanta.

It showed the world that it wasn’t some backwoods redneck city. But it also showed the world that it wasn’t some backwoods redneck city.

Way too many carpetbagging Yankee POSes have moved there and too much “culture” with influence there. That said, it’s worst neighborhoods would be among the best in all of Louisiana which ain’t saying much.

Agreed. It wouldn't be the city it is now had it not been for the Olympics. In 96, the Metro population was 3.5 MIL. Now, its 6.4MIL

Oakland City and Bankhead would look like Beverly Hills.

They will connect the 1/2 mile corridor between Centennial Yards and The Forge and that area will be 2 mega developments merged together. I can’t wait until it is all finished.

Atlanta isn't just growing – it's evolving fast. By 2050, nearly 10 million people will call the region home, transforming how the city lives, moves and connects. That scale will test every part of Atlanta's infrastructure — and redefine what it means to build an inclusive, sustainable metropolis

Thanks to gentrification, the city of Atlanta has flourished and become way more Lulu Lemony and Whole Foodish and the surrounding areas aren't as nice anymore.

In other words, tell people that you have no idea what you're talking about withouth telling people that you have no idea what you're talking about.
