SIAP, How much is the base salary up there, and if you could transfer to any dept in the Stated, where would it be and why? (asking for my brother, a fellow metro officer here in the Vegas area)

Depends. I would say starting hourly is 23-28. Which you can make a decent living in Minnesota.
If I were to transfer it depends on many things. I'll list a few places and why.
For action and support, I would go to areas like Memphis, Houston, or Milwaukee. The pay is alright in those areas but the crime rate is high but also you can find nice areas to live.
But I would transfer to Texas or Florida. Which cities or areas, I'm not sure yet. I would have to weigh out pay and safety for my future family.

Many mistakes. What screwed the case was the search of the evidence. A lot of the people were not wearing gloves, and a lot of the evidence had gaps in the chain of custody.

Good thread. Have you ever been offered a bribe? You know, $100.00 or w/e to let the speeding ticket go by.

Funny but you mention this. My first week on "FTO" or training. When I started driving, one of my first stops a guy offered to pay cash not to get a ticket. But overall doesn't happen a lot. Mostly when it happens is when someone is arrested at a bar. Sexual favors and cash. My body cam protects me from people saying I took anything or coerced them in any way.

Sure, you're a first responder. But wouldn't it make more sense if you aspired to be the last responder? You know, the guy who shows up and draws the chalk outline. The one who cuts down the crime scene tape. The guy who waltzes up at the end of the standoff - and after you shoot the gas in the window and all guess what the dude had for lunch - the guy who gets to shoot the offender in the tummy with the bean-bag gun when he stumbles out of the house gasping for air?

Last question: did you role play good cop/bad cop with my GF?

Also do officers hate the name "cop?"

I could be certified to be an EMT with my training and education for medical stuff. I'll be honest. I didn't sign up to be last on scene or the guy who sits in the back. Yeah I like to call the shots and be the typical type A personality. I know it sounds cliche but I would rather be first then my partners/friends. I trust my instincts and abilities more then there's. I also couldn't live with myself if I was the last guy and something happened to one of my partners.

Thank god it's only a misdemeanor to impersonate an officer. Plus getting the badge bunnies and not being a real cop is hard to pass up.

I plea the 5th.
I don't mind. We've been called worse. Officer, cop or pig, doesn't matter.

Hint - don't be so confident in your report writing abilities.

I'm not. It's nice to leave a voice mail of my report and some nice old lady types it for me. Sorry for my poor grammar.

Any other questions, comments or concerns?

Dunkin. But we don't have those up here. So holiday gas station is my choice.

It's fun. Get a tour of the department. Get to see a squad car inside and out. I used to ride a long with different departments while in school.
