I think 25 years is the full retirement, your retirement is based on your high 5 (5 highest paying years) and is averaged out at that. I think if you do the minimum 25 years you get paid 75% of the average of your high five.

Big fan of the high five. My good friend works in MN they get a percentage of the high five. An example would be if he worked 30 years he gets 90% basically 3% for every year. But I wish my department had off duty OT. What's the life like in the panhandle. If you don't mind me asking do you work for a SO or pd?

Texas retirement is great, vested after 5 years, you drop in 7% of pay into retirement and departments contribute 14%...wow!

S.O. Where I work is 12 years vested - now changed to 15. You donate 3% and they add 7%... peanuts compared to Texas

Is Texas 20 years? Here it's 20 years but your fully vested after 5. Nice thing is if you leave you get what you put in back if you leave before 5

Where do you work if you don't mind my asking? I see the ASU logo but know that doesn't mean that's the team you identify most with, especially considering this board and this time of year .

Why do you hate black people?
Why do you hate poor people?
Why are you racist?
Why don't you shoot more white people?

Have you considered working for Grady Judd? He is the sheriff in the meth capital of Florida. He likes catching druggies, but absolutely loves a good whore sting.

No problem. Minnesota. But I'm not sure why it's ASU, I'm not sure how to change it.

I would rather go to Naples or FT. Myers. I always liked the area. Not due to being a LEO

1. Because society says we do
2. Because they pay my salary
3. Again society says we are
4. They help us make our quotas

why don't you spend the majority of your shift ticketing assholes that are going too slow in the passing lane?

that's what I'd do.

That is a really good area for living the Salt Life, not just buying a sticker. During the real estate downturn you could buy some really nice places for about 1/2 of what they go for now.

They are due to get the crap kicked out of them by a few hurricanes down there now though.

That's my fear. I used to live in the Tampa area. Really nice area. But only down hold up is the cost and weather.
Northern GA or eastern TN is also peaceful. But I know both start off pretty low pay wise

Sad thing is even if you were serious those would be my answers. I'm hoping some of the folks like tangerine, strong safety, and others alike who have a strong dislike for LEO's join the conversation. I like the challenging questions.

Agree with your assessment on the truth of the answers. People just don't understand the bullshite that LE have to put up with since Obama declared open season on them.

Well LEO's are normal folks. We make mistakes and do dumb things. But we with that said, people act like we're robots.
Obama didn't really help the law enforcement community but even before it was a hard job from my understanding. It will only get harder from here on out.
